Mary has an eclectic background in academia that supports her knowledge in cultural competency and therapeutic modalities. She attended Indiana University Southeast where she earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science, minoring in international studies in Latin American and Caribbean culture and politics. Mary went on to complete a master's degree in the art of clinical mental health counseling at Indiana University Southeast. She then earned her license to practice clinical mental health counseling in the State of Indiana. Mary spent the first few years as a licensed mental health counselor in community mental health where she practiced in rural Indiana. She is specialized in adult substance use disorders, complex trauma, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, and mood disorders. She has experience working with probation, parole, and adult and child services. She has facilitated several group therapy programs, including inpatient and outpatient substance use groups, cognitive behavioral therapy groups, and trauma focused therapy groups. Mary also has experience in couples and family counseling. She has expanded her expertise since joining Lake Behavioral health to include treating children and adolescents. She continues to expand her scope of practice to include a plethora of therapeutic modalities.
